Chelsea are set to battle Liverpool for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise next summer according to reports in Germany.

Olise swapped Crystal Palace for the German champions in the summer of 2024, and has gone on to establish as one the best players in Europe.

The France international had a brilliant first season in which he contributed 43 g/a in 55 appearances in all competitions as Bayern won the Bundesliga title.

Chelsea to battle Liverpool for Michael Olise

Olise spent three years at Crystal Palace, and there have been links with a move to Premier League holders Liverpool.

German Publication Bild have reported Liverpool are looking at Olise as a long term successor to Mohamed Salah.

However, the report adds the Reds are set to face fierce competition from Chelsea, who regret not pushing to sign the 23-year-old when they had the chance.

Olise’s value is now thought to have risen to £87m, and it’s unclear if he’d even be open to leaving Bayern after just two years at the club.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Olise in the past, but on two occasions they were unable to get a deal done.

It’s believed that Chelsea’s wage structure was the reason they were unable to complete a deal for Olise, and the Blues must surely be regretting that.

Former Crystal Palace star unlikely to join Chelsea

It’s very hard to see a scenario in which the Frenchman wants to leave Bayern next summer, and it’s even harder to imagine Chelsea being able to do a deal with the UEFA restrictions they are under.

Unless Olise has communicated he wants to leave, any deal to get him away from the German champions would be very expensive.

Chelsea’s days of paying huge transfer fees appear to be behind them, so despite it being exciting to be linked with top players, the reality is a deal is very unlikely to happen.
