Thursday’s reports claim that Paulo Dybala is set to accept a significant reduction in wages in order to extend his stay with Roma for another season, despite strong interest in the Argentine from Boca Juniors.

Dybala expected to stay with Roma for 2026-27

La Joya is currently due to be out of contract at the end of June, and there had been reported interest from Argentine giants Boca Juniors as well as from Fenerbahce. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, however, that Dybala is set to stay with the Giallorossi and that there could be an official announcement regarding his future at the beginning of next week.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Dybala is set to sign a one-year contract extension, potentially with an option to extend for a further year, with fixed wages in the region of €2.5m per season, not including bonuses related to goals and appearances.

The 32-year-old has previously been earning a base salary of around €8m per year, but is reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut to stay in the capital, aware that he is into the latter stages of his career and that injuries have been a constant issue for several years.

Thursday’s report claims that it has never been a matter of money for Dybala, though. He is said to want to stay and help with the team’s expected Champions League journey next season, and also feels settled in Rome with his young family, his first daughter born in March.

Roma are also happy to keep Dybala and his experience in the dressing room. His presence has certainly come in handy in recent weeks: Roma hit their rockiest form of the season in March while the Argentine was out nursing a knee injury, but have since picked up four wins on the spin since he has returned to the matchday squad.
