A transfer background story revealed in today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera reveals that, last summer, Gian Piero Gasperini had given his green light to the sale of Manu Koné to finance the purchase of Jadon Sancho.

The deal, however, was blocked by the Friedkins.

The French midfielder was very close to a move to Inter, but his departure would have been crucial to the arrival of Sancho, who ultimately chose Emery’s Aston Villa.

Initially, Roma had planned to cover Koné’s departure by signing Magassa, but negotiations were later interrupted by the Texan owners.

In addition to the Friedkins, however, Roma fans also expressed their discontent at the possible sale of the former Monchengladbach player, considered one of the most important players in the Roma team.
