Reports in Italy claim that Inter are hoping to close a deal with Liverpool for English midfielder Curtis Jones within the next few days, that Aleksandar Stankovic has had his medical and that the Nerazzurri are keeping close tabs on Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra.

The 2025-26 double winners are looking to strengthen Cristian Chivu’s squad over the off season and are already closing in on their first few deals of the summer according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Pink Paper reports that Inter are hoping to close a deal with Liverpool for Jones within the next few days, with the intention of having the 25-year-old available from the beginning of June onwards.

Jones will be heading into the final year of his Liverpool contract this summer, and Saturday’s report suggests that Inter will not have any issue arranging personal terms with the central midfielder.

If there are any issues, it is likely to be between the two clubs, as Liverpool are said to be holding out for a fee in the region, or possibly in excess of €30m, while Inter are hoping to strike a deal in the region of €20m-€25m. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that these details will be discussed among the directors next week.

Meanwhile, Stankovic has already had his medical with Inter and is set to return from Club Brugge after just 11 months in the Belgian top flight. The 20-year-old will return via his €23m buy-back clause, but the Nerazzurri are not opposed to selling him on for a greater profit, even as early as this summer according to the latest updates.

Inter are also said to be keen on the idea of signing Italy international Palestra, particularly if Denzel Dumfries is sold during the transfer window, but negotiating with Atalanta is not expected to be a straightforward task.
