Inter Milan could reportedly lodge an eye-watering summer bid for highly rated Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in the summer.
According to Spanish media outlet Fichajes via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri could revisit their interest in the quicksilver forward at the end of the season.
Cristian Chivu remains hellbent on switching Inter’s formation to a 3-4-2-1.
Indeed, the 45-year-old was keen to deviate from Simone Inzaghi’s signature 3-5-2 setup upon arrival last summer.
However, he has had to postpone this transition after Inter failed to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.
Nevertheless, Chivu’s plan has not changed.
Nico Williams first emerged as a potential target for Inter last summer.
However, the Nerazzurri had to relinquish their interest in the Spaniard due to his outrageous €100 million release clause.
Furthermore, Williams’ contract in the Basque Country runs until 2035, giving Athletic Bilbao a significant upper hand in negotiations.
Still, the 23-year-old has not had the best of seasons, netting just four goals in 19 La Liga appearances.
Therefore, he could be available for around €50 million in the summer, though Inter would still have to make at least one high-profile sale to make room for the EURO 2024 winner.
