Alisson Becker has been one of the defining figures of Liverpool’s modern era, yet uncertainty now hangs over his future at Liverpool F.C. as interest from Juventus F.C. intensifies ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Brazil international only signed a one-year contract extension in March, a move designed to protect Liverpool’s position and avoid the possibility of losing their first-choice goalkeeper on a free transfer in 2026. Despite that extension, reports from Italy suggest Alisson is open to a fresh challenge in Turin.
According to original source Gazzetta, Juventus are increasingly confident about their chances of landing the 33-year-old, with the player reportedly convinced by the long-term vision being presented by the Serie A side. The report also claims Alisson’s representatives are prepared to accelerate talks following renewed contact with Juventus officials.
For Liverpool, this is not merely about replacing a goalkeeper. It is about potentially losing one of the last remaining pillars of the side that conquered Europe and England under Jürgen Klopp.

There has been a sense for months that Liverpool are entering a period of significant change. Senior figures are edging towards the end of their cycles at Anfield, while Arne Slot is attempting to shape the next phase of the club’s evolution.
When asked about Alisson’s future recently, Slot stopped short of offering guarantees.
“The people who make these decisions take everything into account,” Slot said.
“They try to make the best decisions with the interest of the club.
“It is definitely one argument to keep him but there are other arguments. That is a decision the club has to make if that is needed.”
Those comments did little to quieten speculation. If anything, they reinforced the idea that Liverpool are seriously considering the long-term picture.
Alisson’s recent injury record cannot be ignored. The Brazilian missed 16 matches last season and has already exceeded that tally during the current campaign. While his quality remains beyond dispute, availability has increasingly become part of the conversation.
Liverpool have already prepared for succession planning. Giorgi Mamardashvili is viewed internally as the natural heir to the number one shirt, with the club believing the Georgian possesses the attributes required to lead the next generation.
Replacing Alisson, however, would never be straightforward. He transformed Liverpool’s defensive structure from the moment he arrived from Roma in 2018. His calmness under pressure, command of the penalty area and ability in one-against-one situations elevated Liverpool from contenders into champions.
Juventus see Alisson as the ideal figure to restore authority between the posts after inconsistent performances from current goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.
There is also an important personal connection. Alisson worked previously with Luciano Spalletti during their time together at Roma, and that relationship is believed to have strengthened Juventus’ pursuit.
Italian reports suggest Alisson remains interested in the move regardless of whether Juventus secure Champions League qualification. That detail matters. It points towards a player motivated by more than finances or prestige. Instead, it suggests somebody contemplating the final major chapter of an elite career.
Liverpool supporters will understandably struggle with the thought of seeing Alisson elsewhere. He has not simply been excellent. He has been decisive in defining moments.
There was the extraordinary headed winner against West Bromwich Albion. There were countless saves in title races and European nights. There was the aura that spread calm across an entire back line.
Goalkeepers rarely become emotional centrepieces at football clubs. Alisson managed it.
Should Sunday’s meeting with Brentford F.C. prove to be Alisson’s final appearance for Liverpool, he will leave as one of the club’s greatest modern signings.
Since arriving from AS Roma eight years ago, he has collected two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and two League Cups.
He remains first choice for Brazil national football team under Carlo Ancelotti heading towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup, underlining that his reputation at elite level remains intact despite recent injury concerns.
For Liverpool, the coming weeks may define more than a transfer decision. They may reveal how quickly the club are prepared to move into a new era.
For Juventus, the pursuit of Alisson represents an opportunity to secure a goalkeeper still capable of deciding the biggest matches.
And for Alisson himself, this summer increasingly feels like a crossroads.
