Inter Milan center-back Manuel Akanji will represent Switzerland in upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Slovenia.
According to FCInterNews, Swiss coach Murat Yakin has called up the 30-year-old for October’s qualifying games.
Switzerland’s quest to secure a sixth consecutive World Cup qualification continues this month.
Indeed, Yakin’s charges travel to Sweden and Slovenia after a perfect two-game start to their Group B journey.
They thumped Kosovo and Slovenia in the opening two rounds, netting seven unanswered goals in the process.

Manuel Akanji joined Inter Milan from Manchester City on a season-long on deadline day.
Despite falling out of favor at the Etihad Stadium, he has already become a regular starter at San Siro.
Therefore, his international status remains unchanged.
With 73 caps, he is among the most experienced Swiss players.
Furthermore, he has been the cornerstone of Yakin’s defense for years.
His experience and quality make him crucial to Switzerland’s bid to appear at next summer’s tournament.
