As Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, speculation continues to swirl around possible replacements for the Italian coach.
As such, according to a recent revelation from Fichajes, one of the more unexpected names being considered is Cesc Fabregas, the current manager of Como in Italy.
With Ancelotti’s contract set to expire in 2026, the possibility of him leaving for the Brazilian national team—especially after the 2025 Club World Cup—has gained traction.
This looming uncertainty has forced Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to start exploring potential replacements, and while Xabi Alonso remains the club’s primary target, his ongoing success at Bayer Leverkusen complicates the possibility.
In light of this, Fabregas’ name has emerged as an intriguing option.
Although Fabregas is relatively new to coaching, having started his managerial career at Como, his name carries significant weight due to his extensive playing career at the highest level.
Under his leadership, Como have impressed many, becoming one of the standout teams of the season, while also developing talented players such as Nico Paz.

Fabregas’ tactical vision, honed through years of playing for elite clubs, has helped Como deliver strong performances, further solidifying his potential as a manager capable of leading a major club like Real Madrid.
His ability to connect with players and adapt his tactics to the needs of the team has caught the attention of those in Madrid.
One of the most significant hurdles Fabregas would face is his past as a player for Barcelona, Real Madrid’s eternal rivals.
However, Florentino Perez has never shied away from making bold decisions in the pursuit of success.
His past moves—such as bringing in players like Luis Figo from Barcelona—demonstrate that Perez is willing to take risks if it means securing a better future for the club.
With Ancelotti’s future still up in the air, the managerial situation at Real Madrid remains fluid. While Alonso is seen as the preferred option, the complexities of his contract at Bayer Leverkusen may delay a potential move.
