With the transfer window closing in just a few days, Tottenham are making moves to ensure their young talents get the best opportunities for development.

Will Lankshear has been part of Ange Postecoglou’s senior squad this season, making multiple appearances but struggling for regular game time.

While Tottenham have high hopes for Lankshear, the club believes a temporary move could be the best path for his progression.

Several clubs are keen on securing his services for the remainder of the campaign, and Spurs have a clear preference for where they want him to go.

But with other young forwards also fighting for a place in the squad, Tottenham’s attack is going through some reshuffling.

According to reports from Football London, Will Lankshear looks set to leave on loan before Monday’s deadline.

Lankshear is expected to join a Championship club on loan, with Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Cardiff, and Luton among those interested in signing him.

While clubs abroad have also shown interest, Tottenham are keen for the forward to remain in England and gain experience in the second tier of English football.

Despite being involved with the first team this season, Lankshear was an unused substitute in Tottenham’s recent 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg.

Instead, Dane Scarlett was given the opportunity from the bench, scoring his first senior goal for the club with a header from a Dejan Kulusevski cross.

With Lankshear likely heading out, Scarlett will now stay with Tottenham for the rest of the season.

Initially recalled from his loan at Oxford United, the expectation was that Scarlett would be loaned out again.

However, after assessing his situation, Postecoglou decided to keep him in the squad as additional cover in attack.

Tottenham’s plan for their young strikers

Speaking about Scarlett’s situation, Postecoglou explained his reasoning behind keeping him at the club: "We had a look at his situation. He has had a couple of disappointing loans.

"I think sending him out again without any sort of real prospect of him developing, we just felt let’s keep him training with us and give him an opportunity to train with us and play with us and see how it goes."

While Scarlett gets his chance to impress at Tottenham, Lankshear will be looking to make the most of his expected loan move.

With Championship football offering a competitive environment, this could be a crucial step in his development before returning to Spurs in the summer.
