Ricardo Pereira has confirmed he will leave Leicester City after eight years, with his final outing at Blackburn on Saturday.
The player said in a video message that the Ewood Park fixture is set to be his 220th appearance.
His contract at the King Power Stadium expires this summer and, after relegation, his departure had been expected.
His legacy has been tainted by this season’s relegation and his role as captain, though he may yet be remembered for the highs he enjoyed at the club.
Signed from Porto for around £18m, he won the club’s player of the year in his first season and quickly established himself as one of the division’s leading full-backs.
Reflecting on his time at the club, he acknowledged the ending does not feel good, but said he would cherish the trophies, celebrations, goals and his bond with supporters. He also referenced the loss of his agent and his mother’s health issues, thanked fans, and said he always gave his best through injuries and difficult spells.
Pereira added that he will be following Leicester and hopes the club can return to where it belongs.
