Samuele Ricci could leave Milan just a year after arriving, with Ruben Amorim not viewing him as a natural fit for his two-man midfield. According to Matteo Moretto, the midfielder is not among the coach’s tactical priorities.

It is seen as a stylistic mismatch rather than form. Ricci delivered a steady first season, making 31 appearances with one goal and four assists while sitting behind Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric. Milan are weighing a permanent sale to raise funds and reinvest.

His representatives have started testing the market, with recent contacts noted with Juventus and Atalanta. The Bianconeri, being assembled by Giovanni Carnevali and Frederic Massara with a stronger Italian spine, have long admired him. Ricci’s name also surfaced in the winter window in a possible swap involving Federico Gatti.

At Atalanta, he could find a key supporter in Maurizio Sarri, who pushed for him repeatedly during his Lazio spell. Amorim is minded to avoid congestion in central areas, with Milan now carrying seven players for two roles even with Europa League football ahead.

Signed for €23 million last summer and tied to 2029, Ricci is unlikely to be sold cheaply. Milan want offers from around €20 million to begin talks, while the player is working hard in pre-season to try to change Amorim’s mind. The coming weeks will indicate whether he forces his way into Amorim’s plans or becomes part of a sell-to-build summer.
