Liverpool have got a problem to solve on the right wing.

Last week brought bombshell news that Mohamed Salah would be leaving the club at the end of the season. But the Premier League champions won’t be getting a transfer fee for the 33-year-old.

Salah is leaving on a free transfer with the club agreeing to tear up a contract originally supposed to run until 2027. The Anfield club will be saying goodbye to a bonafide club legend and will have a vacancy for a starting right winger.

There have been links with Bradley Barcola, Yan Diomande and Michael Olise - and in recent days Francisco Conceicao was added to the list.

The 23-year-old Juventus winger is under contract until 2030 and would cost somewhere in the region of £56m according to reports in Italy.

Liverpool want deal for Francisco Conceicao

A one-v-one specialist the Portugal international would give Arne Slot a quality he’s been missing with Cody Gakpo and Salah on the flanks.

The left-footer could do with brushing up on his efficiency in front of goal but as a dribble monster he would no doubt put opponents on the back foot and create chances for teammates.

How viable is this deal? It remains to be seen. But Liverpool can certainly add a sweetener.

Juventus were very interested in adding Federico Chiesa to the ranks in January. The 28-year-old joined Liverpool from the Bianconeri in 2024 and it’s fair to say his time on Merseyside hasn’t been a success.

Juve coach Luciano Spalletti would dearly love to repatriate the winger but Juve backed out owing to the cost of the deal.

Federico Chiesa could move to Juventus

Between a transfer fee and Chiesa’s £150k per week salary the Italian giants were unwilling to finance the package. But if Liverpool play their cards right they could get Chiesa off the books and add Conceicao instead.

With Chiesa valued at around £12m it would help reduce the initial outlay if the Italian international was added to the deal. And Juve would be more incentivised to pay his wages if they were not facing an upfront cost.

Player swap deals are rare these days but the pieces of this particular puzzle fit together. Liverpool could send around £45m plus Federico Chiesa to Juventus in exchange for Francisco Conceicao.

The quicksilver winger could then inherit Chiesa’s wages - meaning this deal could work out on very favourable terms for the Premier League champions.
