Eyebrows were raised earlier this week when it emerged that Juventus were seeking to sign Alisson Becker in the off-season.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been at Anfield since 2018 - winning a host of team and individual honours along the way.
It is widely expected that the Premier League champions will soon activate a one-year extension in the Brazil No1’s contract - tying him to the club until 2027.
That step would of course ensure more continuity between the posts - but it would also protect Alisson’s transfer value in case any teams were tempted to sign him.
Juve have got plans to overhaul their goalkeeping department as they seem no longer to trust Michele di Gregorio. Alisson is seen as a cut-price option - given his age and contract expiry - if the Old Lady do not requalify for the Champions League.
Their bigger-budget target is reported to be Guglielmo Vicario - the Tottenham goalkeeper who is believed to be open to a transfer back to Serie A.
Any bid for Alisson would give Richard Hughes a massive decision to make - with the South American still among the best in the world in his position.
According to a report in Football Insider right now the Anfield club have got NO plans to sell Alisson this summer - despite Juve’s reported interest.
“The Reds do not want to sell him ahead of next season anyway, and he is believed to remain content with his current standing in Arne Slot’s squad,” the report reads.
