Enrique Riquelme has moved to ease Real Madrid’s postal voting row by installing a notary at his campaign headquarters, allowing members to cast ballots without charge.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the electoral board insists postal votes be made before a notary, with a notarised record, identity checks, and the ballot sent by certified mail to a specific PO box. Many members have struggled to secure an appointment before Wednesday three June and must front almost 100 euros, later reimbursed by the club.
After complaints on social media, Riquelme will provide a notary at his base on Calle Rafael Salgado, three. The service targets those not travelling to Valdebebas to vote in person on Sunday seven June, a day especially chaotic in the capital due to the visit of Pope León XIV.
The notary will be available from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 16:30 to 18:30 in the days before the deadline.
The move removes paperwork and upfront outlay for members and has been welcomed by many planning to vote by post.
