At 37, Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski credits meticulous off-pitch preparation, with breakfast central to his routine. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he said he once relied on cereal with milk and felt flat before training.

He then made precise changes, especially to dairy and the foods he chose. He cut ultra-processed products, fried items, lactose and wheat flour, favouring plant-based milks such as almond, coconut or rice, plus fruit, wholemeal bread, vegetables and small amounts of 100% dark chocolate.

More recently, tuna has become a breakfast staple, which he says helps reduce body fat and lift energy. To perform well before matches, he adds red rice with thyme, turmeric salt, anise, pine nuts, clarified butter and black cumin.

His mornings have also shifted to a different eating order, and both he and Anna Lewandowska now start the day with a homemade brownie made with pure cocoa. For dinner he usually opts for light recovery dishes such as rice pudding prepared with plant-based drinks.

In the days leading up to games he increases protein intake through tuna, chicken, almonds or pine nuts. After exertion he prioritises recovery with vegetables and fresh produce including avocado, broccoli, carrot and spinach, plus beetroot juice with cinnamon or cayenne pepper.

He also turns to small snacks such as oats with dates, energy bars or so-called power balls made from cocoa or dried fruit, often paired with natural drinks like coconut milk or homemade isotonic options. The Poland forward has been a leading figure in Europe, playing for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, where he became the Bundesliga’s all-time leading foreign scorer with 312 goals.
