Benjamin Sesko has gotten his career at Manchester United off to a flying start.

Signed from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €85m, including add-ons, Sesko has already scored two goals in the Premier League. More importantly, the Slovenian has excellently dealt with the Premier League’s physicality.

Over the weekend, Sesko came off the bench at Liverpool and impressed with his hold-up play, as his towering presence came in handy against Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

However, Ruben Amorim’s decision to not start Sesko at Anfield underlines United could do with another striker, given the 22-year-old’s limited experience.

Manchester United want to sign Lewandowski

According to the Daily Star, Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a “hugely attractive” target for United, who could sign him next summer.

It is suggested Amorim is interested in signing the Barcelona talisman on a free transfer.

The 37-year-old is nearing the end of his contract at Camp Nou, and will become a free agent at the end of the campaign should Barca decide against exercising an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

The former Bayern Munich superstar has enjoyed a prolific stint in Spain. However, there are worries surrounding his advancing age, especially as Hansi Flick’s system demands intense pressing from the frontline.

The same concerns have led to Flick fielding Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres up front over Lewandowski several times this season. Rashford, currently on loan at Barcelona from United, has been finding himself regularly among the goals.

The report states: “What represents a setback for Barcelona could become United’s advantage should the Red Devils pursue Lewandowski as a free agent.”

Lewandowski said “yes” to Man United

It is added that there is reason to suggest the Poland international might “welcome such a move”, having previously admitted to giving the green light to a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

In an interview with BBC earlier this year, Lewandowski revealed that United tried to secure his services from Borussia Dortmund in 2012.

“To Manchester United I decided and said yes,” he said. “I wanted to join Manchester United, to see Alex Ferguson.”

However, Dortmund rebuffed the Premier League giants’ approach. Lewandowski eventually moved to Bayern Munich and established himself as one of Europe’s best goalscorers.

It is thought the long-awaited move “could finally get over the line” after United “received fresh encouragement.”
