After delivering a composed and efficient performance against Espanyol, where he scored the second goal in Barcelona’s 2–0 victory, Robert Lewandowski has put himself firmly in contention to start the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club.
The veteran striker looks refreshed, confident, and ready for another decisive night on a stage where he has consistently delivered.
Lewandowski arrives at the Super Cup in ideal conditions, as he is benefiting from careful rotation.
That freshness, combined with his experience, makes him a strong candidate to lead the line as Barcelona look to secure a place in the final.
Furthermore, his relationship with this competition only strengthens his case.
Remarkably, Lewandowski is currently the most prolific scorer in the Spanish Super Cup among all players present in Saudi Arabia.
His record in the tournament is outstanding. Across his career, he has featured in six Super Cup matches since his arrival at Barcelona.
In those six appearances, he has found the net five times.

His goals have come in the biggest moments. Lewandowski scored in the 2023 and 2024 semi-finals against Real Betis and Osasuna, respectively.
He then went on to score in three consecutive finals, all against Real Madrid, in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The only Super Cup match in which he failed to score came last year, ironically against Athletic Club.
Even that exception does little to dent his impressive record against the La Liga side.
Despite failing to score against them last year, Lewandowski has been a thorn in Athletic’s side.
He has faced them eight times across competitions and has scored six goals in those encounters.
With five goals in six Super Cup appearances, Lewandowski currently stands as the sixth-highest scorer in the history of the competition.
More importantly for Barcelona, no other player involved in this edition has scored more goals in the Super Cup than him.
