Tottenham have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as manager as they fight to stay in the Premier League. The club said in a statement that the 46-year-old has signed a long-term deal.
His immediate task is to keep Spurs up, with the side 17th, one point above West Ham, and seven league matches to play. A drop would be their first since 1977-1978.
De Zerbi previously led Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk, and managed Brighton from 2022 to 2024. He returned to England after a spell at Olympique de Marseille that ended in February following a Champions League exit and a 5-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham have not won in 2026, with five draws and eight defeats, a run that has dragged them towards the bottom.
His first match is due on 12 April at Sunderland. West Ham play two days earlier at home to bottom side Wolverhampton, so De Zerbi could even start in the relegation zone.
