Following his exit from Marseille, Roberto De Zerbi is the frontrunner to become the new permanent manager at Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. Spurs have identified the Italian coach as their main candidate to take the role on a full-time basis when Igor Tudor departs from his interim role.
The former Brighton manager left his role as head coach at the Stade Vélodrome in February after OM were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League. He has been unemployed since, despite links with other roles, including the Tottenham job following the dismissal of Thomas Frank.
The North London outfit are currently embroiled in a relegation battle. Sitting one point above the relegation places, the Italian manager would only entertain taking over the Premier League club were they to remain in the division. As a result, all talks have been scheduled for June when their fate will have been sealed.
