Roberto Martínez calls up two Benfica players for Portugal friendlies | OneFootball

Roberto Martínez has named a 27-man Portugal squad for March friendlies, with Benfica duo António Silva and Tomás Araújo included. According to Glorioso 1904, the head coach confirmed both defenders in his selection.

Other players with Benfica ties called up are João Cancelo, João Neves, João Félix, Gonçalo Ramos and Gonçalo Guedes. Injured Nélson Semedo, plus Rúben Dias and Bernardo Silva, were not selected.

Portugal face Mexico on Sunday, 29 March, at 02h00 at the Estadio Azteca. They then meet the United States on Wednesday, 1 April, at 00h00 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Martínez’s side are in Group K alongside Colombia, featuring Richard Ríos, and Uzbekistan. A final opponent will come through a play-off between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jamaica and New Caledonia.

This international window serves as preparation for the World Cup. The tournament starts on 11 June.
