Spain beat Portugal 1-0 in the World Cup last 16 on Monday. According to L'Équipe, Rodri has apologised to Bernardo Silva after celebrating the Portuguese's late miss.
The incident came on the penultimate attack when a cross from the right eluded Silva, prompting Rodri to celebrate in front of his former team-mate.
Moments later, with the Seleçao needing an equaliser to force extra time, Conceiçao crossed from the left for Silva, the new Real Madrid player, who got in front of Rodri but headed over.
Speaking afterwards, the Spain midfielder admitted he was wrong to rejoice at the miss, said the fault was his and that he apologised immediately.
Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or, where class and fair play are a key voting criterion. He and Silva were Manchester City team-mates from 2019 to 2026.
