Rodri was named the 2026 World Cup's best player after Spain's triumph in New Jersey, crowning a tournament in which he rediscovered his peak.

Pep Guardiola, then Manchester City manager, had predicted early in 2025/26 that he would return to his best with Spain at this World Cup.

Tournament data shows he completed more passes than any player at a World Cup, at over 93 percent accuracy, and he started all eight matches in the United States and Canada, exceeding 650 passes to surpass Xavi's 2010 total.

"Right now we are on a cloud. It is incredible. I just want to thank God for everything he has given me. This group has been sensational," he told RTVE.

Spain's Pau Cubarsí was named best young player and Unai Simón took the Golden Glove after conceding only one goal in eight matches.

At 30, Rodri has now won every major honour, including the World Cup, European Championship, Nations League, Ballon d'Or, Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
