Rodrygo Goes to Liverpool takes GIANT step forward

Rodrygo Goes potential move to Liverpool took a giant step forward in the last few days. Another superstar to Anfield?

Liverpool reportedly want to sign Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid. The Brazilian is out of favour under new boss Xabi Alonso and appears set for an exit.

Now, Rodrygo doesn't necessarily want to leave Madrid. There's an expectation that he'll need to for the good of his career, however, and Liverpool are eager to snap up a player they've wanted for a long, long time.

Rodrygo, after all, is one that got away. The Reds had a deal all but agreed back when he was a teenager at Santos, only for the Brazilian club to cancel it at the last minute.

They believed another season would cause Rodrygo's reputation to skyrocket, bringing a much bigger fee. They were absolutely correct, too, and he signed for Real Madrid a year later.

But the story may well end with Rodrygo signing for Liverpool anyway. Things certainly just took a giant step in that direction.

Rodrygo Goes to Liverpool

It has been reported everywhere, particularly in Spain, that Liverpool have Rodrygo as their top signing if Luis Diaz leaves the club. The Reds don’t really have space for both, while the Colombians’ transfer fee would essentially pay for the new signing.

Bild now reports that Liverpool and Bayern Munich are ‘optimistic’ about a deal for Diaz. This was far from a give, with the Reds rejecting two offers from the Bundesliga champions and maintaining a position that their player wasn’t for sale.

But now it appears a deal will be done and Diaz will in fact join Bayern as their star summer signing. It’s the all-important first step that opens the door for Rodrygo to join Liverpool.
