Roma is monitoring the profiles of muscular midfielders with excellent tactical reading who can also bring some experience to a team making its Champions League debut.
There will be many debutants, most notably Gianluca Mancini, the leader of the group but making his footballing debut with the Champions League.
That’s why the club is seeking players with personality in midfield: Franck Kessie is among them.
Roma is monitoring the free transfer market, looking for players who will be free to sign for a team without having to answer to a single club.
Remo Freuler’s situation is also worth keeping an eye on, although no agreement is currently in sight, writes Corriere dello Sport.
The Ivorian midfielder has already worked with Gian Piero Gasperini in Bergamo and would be happy to reunite with him after his rich experience in the Arab world.
The former Atalanta and AC Milan player, a key figure with the Ivory Coast in the World Cup, earned €14 million a year at Al-Ahli, the club interested in Soulé, but he’s willing to take a drastic pay cut to return to Serie A. The Roman club is considering it.
Another potential candidate for Tony D’Amico’s list is Remo Freuler. The Swiss midfielder appreciates the move, but Roma currently has other priorities.
