Roma could be priced out of a summer transfer for RB Leipzig attacker Antonio Nusa, but the latest reports indicate that Juventus’s Nico Gonzalez is being lined up as a potential alternative.
Gasperini has recently made it clear that he wants more additions to be brought in this summer. Speaking after a pre-season friendly defeat against Cardiff City over the weekend, he specified that he had asked for one new defender, one new winger, two new centre-forwards, plus replacements for anybody else who might leave during the window.
As things stand, Roma have brought in a new defender in Konstantinos Koulierakis and one new centre-forward in Santiago Castro, but are still lacking in the wide area that Gasperini had mentioned.
Roma have been weighing up several profiles after missing out on deals for Mason Greenwood and Crycensio Summerville earlier this summer.
Recent reports claimed that the Giallorossi were interested in RB Leipzig’s Nusa, but there is a strong possibility that the Norway international is out of Roma’s price range with a reported asking price of around €55m.

Instead, Juventus’s Nico Gonzalez is a much more affordable option. And, according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato.com, the Argentine could become a strong option for Roma if his return to Atletico Madrid does not materialise.
Nico Gonzalez spent the 2025-26 season on loan with Atletico in a deal that included a potential obligation to buy for €32m.

In the end, Nico Gonzalez did not make quite enough league appearances for the obligation to buy clause to be triggered, but Atleti are still reportedly interested in bringing him back on board for the 2026-27 season, just at a lower cost than €32m.
According to Sunday’s reports, Atleti have not yet offered anything above €24m for Nico Gonzalez, while Juventus are said to be holding out for a fee of at least €27m.
