Roma eye Corinthians striker for next transfer window, says paper

With less than a month to go before the transfer window opens, clubs are already starting to make moves. According to Corriere dello Sport, an Italian media outlet, Roma is considering making an offer for striker Yuri Alberto, one of Corinthians' main standouts in recent seasons.

The information was confirmed by CNN Brasil. According to the portal, the Corinthians center forward remains one of Roma's targets after negotiations with Joshua Zirkzze, from Manchester United (England), and Fabio Silva, from Borussia Dortmund (Germany), failed to progress.

Corriere dello Sport also reported that Corinthians is considering a sale between 20 and 25 million euros (over R$ 150 million). It is worth noting that the club owns 50% of the player's economic rights. Furthermore, the Italian portal also stated that Roma contacted Yuri Alberto's representatives in November but is facing difficulties due to UEFA's financial fair play restrictions.

The article also emphasizes that Roma prioritizes signing players with little playing time at their current clubs, which does not apply to Yuri Alberto, who is a guaranteed starter for Dorival Júnior's team. In the mid-year transfer window, the number 9 even received an offer from Roma but ended up renewing his contract with Corinthians until mid-2030.

Yuri Alberto is Corinthians' top scorer this season with 18 goals and two assists in 54 matches. Since his arrival at Parque São Jorge in mid-2022, initially on loan from Zenit (Russia), he has scored 75 goals and provided 20 assists in 204 matches (174 as a starter) wearing the Corinthians shirt.

In 2024, he was the top scorer of the Brasileirão and was fundamental in the team's turnaround in the national competition—after fighting against relegation—and securing a spot in the Pre-Libertadores. This season, he played a crucial role in winning the 2025 Paulistão, being decisive especially in the classics against Santos and Palmeiras, particularly in the semifinal and final, respectively.
