The clashes that occurred on the A1 motorway on Sunday between Roma and Fiorentina fans could prove costly.
Even for those who were sitting at home, on the couch, ready to enjoy the Torino-Roma match and perhaps planning to take the car or train to Udine, to the away section, on February 2nd.
Because, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, travel is headed toward a ban on away matches—likely until the end of the season.
The National Observatory on Sporting Events of the Interior Ministry will decide today, Tuesday, January 20th.
But after the position taken at the end of last season, the decision seems obvious.
Regarding Sunday’s clashes, Serie A League President Ezio Simonelli also spoke out. “What happened on the highway is very serious. I sent a message of solidarity, which I want to reiterate, to the police for their efforts to maintain public order,” he said.
Simonelli then added: “Italian football cannot allow sport to be mixed with criminal matters, with clashes that endanger the health not only of those participating, but also of those who must intervene to quell them.”
