While waiting for the Joshua Zirkzee deal to be finalized, Roma are trying to accelerate the transfer market and give Gasperini their first offensive signing of January.
With Manchester United only willing to negotiate with the Dutchman after the African Cup of Nations, work is underway at Trigoria on a concrete and immediate alternative: Giacomo Raspadori.
According to Il Romanista, the striker is on his way out of Atletico Madrid and has already given his approval to return to Serie A.
Negotiations are at an advanced stage: the Spanish club is open to a deal also favored by Roma, namely a loan with an option to buy set at €20 million.
This is a sustainable deal that would allow the Giallorossi to immediately strengthen their defense without overly risking themselves.
Raspadori, who turns 26 in February, would represent not only a short-term solution but also a long-term investment.
Roma’s attack is set to undergo a transformation in the coming months: Dybala, Pellegrini, and El Shaarawy’s contracts expire in June, while Bailey and Ferguson’s departures appear almost certain, with both expected to return to their respective clubs at the end of their loans. For the Jamaican, an early return to Aston Villa as early as January cannot be ruled out.
