Roma have found some obstacles in their pursuit of Givairo Read but have quickly found a worthy alternative in Nahuel Molina. The prospective savings would be utilized in other roles, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
Atletico Madrid want €15M plus €5M bonuses for the Argentine, but the Giallorossi are successfully negotiating it down by €3/4M. Instead, they had tabled €27M in the last, and likely final, bid for the Feyenoord fullback. The counterparty asked for more, and they backed away.
Roma are the latest team to try to bring Molina back to Serie A, where he previously thrived at Udinese. He left in 2022 and has accumulated 181 appearances, 9 goals, and 17 assists with Los Colchoneros. His contract expires in 2027.
The Giallorossi haven’t given up on trying to nab Antonio Nusa. RB Leipzig haven’t sold Yan Diomande to Real Madrid yet. Olympique Lyonnais’ Malick Fofana is surging in their short list. The capital club received reassurances about his recovery from a serious ankle injury.
If they landed the veteran wing-back, they’d go for a youngster on the other wing. They have set sights on Torino’s Alessio Cacciamani, who broke out at Juve Stabia last year. Torino would like to keep him and sell other players instead.
It’s not great that they are jumping from target to target so erratically, but it’s surely go-time for them. Acquiring a seasoned player would be a detour from their MO, but he’s not too old, and it’d be a fine signing for a reasonable figure. He has seemed close to other Italian sides in the past, and then Cholo Simeone pulled his weight and reeled him in.
