Roma have a few months to find their next coach and, after Francesco Farioli, they have set sights on another touted up-and-comer: Como manager Cesc Fabregas. He has caught their attention for his ability on the sidelines and in developing youngsters. Plus, he has an international flair, which has attracted more than a few players, La Provincia informs.
The former Barcelona and Arsenal legend is completely focused on the relegation race and isn’t thinking about his future at the moment. The Lariani brass believes he won’t leave the team anytime soon and expect him to be in their dugout long-term.
Fabregas is the latest addition to the Roma shortlist of possible Claudio Ranieri heirs along with Farioli, Roberto Mancini, and Massimiliano Allegri. Carlo Ancelotti recently stated that he’d stay at Real Madrid. It remains to be seen whether the team is on the same page.
The ex-midfielder finished his career near the lake in 2022/2023 and then went into coaching, beginning with the Primavera team but getting promoted only after a few months. He was accompanied by Osian Roberts for a while since he didn’t have the proper license. He led the team to its first promotion in 20 years last season. The Biancoblù are more than holding their own in the current one.
The Giallorossi seem to have made their choice between a youngster and a veteran, but it’d be a surprise if they were successful in this case. He’s more than a coach for his current club. He’s been brilliant, and it’s not hard to imagine he’ll eventually take over a top side, perhaps one he’s played for in the past.
