Roma ‘to consider’ move for Sunderland record signing Habib Diarra | OneFootball

Gazzetta suggests that Roma are weighing up Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra as a possible option if Manu Koné departs this summer.

The report does not indicate an offer or formal talks, and any move appears to hinge on Koné leaving. Another option named is Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

Diarra joined from Strasbourg last summer for around £30million, a club-record fee. The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal, keeping him at the Stadium of Light until 2030.

As it stands, he is expected to be a key figure for Régis Le Bris this season. Sunderland are not believed to be looking to sell and would be in a strong position if Roma moved to firm up interest.

Diarra came through the Mulhouse and Strasbourg academies, making his Ligue 1 debut in October 2021. He established himself at Strasbourg before moving to Wearside in July 2025, and has now returned to training after an extended post-World Cup break.
