Alessio Romagnoli has asked Lazio to let him join Al-Sadd in January to reunite with ex-Italy boss Roberto Mancini, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Qatari club have offered €8m and a sizeable salary, with the 31-year-old pressing for the move.

Lazio and Romagnoli have not been close to agreeing an extension beyond 2027, which has prompted the defender to pursue this switch.

He has been a regular starter this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions. Romagnoli has been at Lazio since 2022 after a free transfer from Milan, where he won the Scudetto.

Lazio have already sold two starters this month, with Valentin Castellanos joining West Ham and Matteo Guendouzi moving to Fenerbahce. Petar Ratkov and Kenneth Taylor have arrived as replacements.
