Summer Shake-Up: Nunez, Chiesa and Robertson in Spotlight

Nunez drawing European and Saudi interest

As Liverpool prepare for a transformative summer window under Arne Slot, outgoings are becoming just as critical as new arrivals. One name increasingly being discussed across Europe is Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan striker has attracted interest from Serie A side Napoli. While the club is keen, no agreement has been reached on the transfer fee. Talks between Liverpool and Napoli remain ongoing, but as things stand, “there is still a gap between Liverpool and Napoli and this is a significant gap as of today on the valuation of the player.”

Despite that, the interest in Nunez extends beyond Italy. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are also closely monitoring his situation. With the Saudi Pro League continuing to invest heavily in high-profile talent, Nunez is expected to be one of the names to watch as the window progresses. His future at Anfield remains uncertain, and any sale would likely hinge on Liverpool securing appropriate reinforcements first.

Chiesa seeking return to regular football in Italy

Another player expected to be part of Liverpool’s outgoing business is Federico Chiesa. Despite admiration for the club, the Italian international is believed to be targeting a move back to Serie A to reignite his international career.

“He wants to go back to Italy. He wants to leave Liverpool, not because he has any problem – he loves the club, he loves his teammates, and all the people at the club – but the problem is that Chiesa is not playing on a regular basis.”

Lack of consistent minutes has hampered his aspirations of returning to the Italian national team setup, and securing a move where he can be a guaranteed starter is now a top priority. “So, he wants to go, he wants to play, he also wants to be back with the Italian national team, so playing regularly for his club will be crucial.”

Napoli, once again, are among the Italian clubs showing concrete interest in Chiesa. The question now centres on whether they – or any of his other Serie A suitors – can agree terms with Liverpool.

Robertson delaying decision amid Atletico interest

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson remains a player attracting admiration from abroad. Atletico Madrid explored a potential move for the experienced left-back earlier in the summer. However, Liverpool were unwilling to sanction a free transfer, leading to a cooling of talks.

“There was a possibility, a real possibility, for him to go to Atletico Madrid, but then Liverpool didn’t want the player to leave on a free transfer.”

At this point, the Scotland international has yet to give any indication of his final plans. “At the moment, the player himself has not decided what he wants to do, he never gave any final green light to Atletico, to respect Liverpool, and make his decision on the future very soon.”

Clubs from across Europe remain attentive to Robertson’s situation, and it’s possible further offers will emerge in the coming weeks.

Squad overhaul expected under Slot

With Liverpool entering a new era under Arne Slot, the summer is likely to bring significant movement on both ends of the pitch. While additions will be made, the club are keen to balance their books and refresh the squad in key areas.

Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Andy Robertson are all players with uncertain futures – each for different reasons – but all three could be pivotal in shaping Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign.
