Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update on the future of Alisson Becker, revealing that Italian giants Juventus have made a “serious approach” to sign the Liverpool goalkeeper this summer.
With the Brazilian’s time at Anfield potentially nearing an end, the tug-of-war between a fresh start in Serie A and continued loyalty to the Premier League has officially begun.
According to Romano, Juventus are prepared to offer a significant long-term package to the 33-year-old, likely consisting of a two-year deal with an option for a third, or a straight three-year contract.
The temptation of a move to Turin is reportedly strong for Alisson. A primary factor is the presence of Luciano Spalletti, the current Juventus manager who coached Alisson during his breakout years at AS Roma.
However, the journalist was quick to emphasise that Alisson’s deep affection for Liverpool remains a hurdle for any swift exit.
Having seen the club recently activate an option to extend his contract until 2027, Alisson is adamant about not forcing a move.
The final decision now rests with the Liverpool board, who must weigh a potential transfer fee against the loss of a sporting icon.
Romano said on his latest YouTube video:
“Juventus already made serious approach with Alisson and his camp over a potential long-term contract. Long-term doesn’t mean five years, but my understanding is that Juventus would be ready to offer a two plus one year contract. two years plus one as option or eventually to discuss a three-year contract with Alisson. So with these two options being discussed but it’s an important contract a long contract for Alisson. At the same time Liverpool have activated few weeks ago the option to extend his current contract at Anfield until 2027. So on one side Alisson has one more year contract at Liverpool. On the other side Juventus are prepared to offer two plus one or even three years at the club to the Brazilian goalkeeper. From my understanding, Alisson would be tempted by the possibility to return in Italy and try a new chapter after he did a fantastic at Roma a few years ago with the same coach who is now at Juventus, Luchos Palleti. So, Alisson would be tempted by this possibility. But he doesn’t want to leave Liverpool in a bad way at all. He wants to respect Liverpool. Alisson loves Liverpool and he will not leave on bad terms. That’s the intention of the Brazilian goalkeeper. So now it’s on Liverpool to decide from now to the end of the season to communicate something with Alisson and decide what they want to do if they want to keep him if they want to sell him if they open doors which conditions what Juventus can pay to Liverpool eventually. So several points to clarify in order to understand the future of Alisson but at the moment it depends on Liverpool. Liverpool extended his contract because they believe in Alisson and they are already going to lose two important leaders Mo Salah and the Robertson. So losing also Alisson on the same summer would be tough and that’s going to be a point discussed internally in order to make a decision.”
Despite the temptation to cash in on an aging asset, selling Alisson this summer could prove to be a massive mistake for the Reds.
Historically, elite goalkeepers often reach their absolute peak in their mid-to-late 30s, as seen with legends like Gianluigi Buffon and Manuel Neuer, meaning Alisson likely has several years of world-class performance remaining.
Beyond his shot-stopping, his presence is a foundational element of the club’s DNA.
With Liverpool already braced for the departures of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson, losing a third pillar of the “Klopp era” leadership group in a single window would represent a massive blow to the squad’s emotional and tactical stability.
Replacing Alisson’s distribution and 1v1 dominance is a near-impossible task, and his exit could leave a void that no amount of transfer profit can fill.
