Serie A side Roma signed Matias Soule from rivals Juventus in the summer transfer window and the Argentine has now offered some background into his situation back in the summer.
The versatile attacker spoke to La Stampa today about his time in Rome and his stint at Juventus. He specifically focused on how things were in the summer and what lead to his exit from Juve.
He spoke about Thiago Motta, revealing that the ex-manager wanted him to stay. He said, via JNetwork: “Thiago and I often joked. He told me to stay, but he knew the situation. Did he disappoint expectations? Nobody expected it, even after the work done in Bologna. But football is also this.”
Speaking of his exit from the Bianconeri, Soule said: “I was owned by Juve and I thought about returning. In January, however, they told me that they would have to sell me to raise money, perhaps to an Arab team. In the end that deal didn’t materialize, but when I left for the summer retreat I already knew that I wouldn’t stay.”
Juventus take on Roma in their next Serie A game and the Argentina international was asked about it.
He said: “Sunday’s match will be even more important for the standings. We and Roma are playing for a place in the Champions League. Revenges? No, now I’m only thinking about Roma.”
Soule had a slow start to life at Roma but has improved in the last few weeks, becoming a key player for Claudio Ranieri, having showed that in the Europa League as well.
