Chelsea midfielder Romeo is set to play for the Under-21 side as they take on Leeds United tomorrow (h/t Kieran Gill).

The Chelsea holding midfielder suffered an injury in November and was supposed to be out for a few weeks, but it has now lasted months.

Lavia has been back on the pitch for two weeks without any setbacks, but Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior will be slow to integrate the notoriously fragile Belgian.

Playing for the Chelsea youth team will help him build some form. Per the report, he should be available for the Blues as they take on Arsenal next weekend.

Chelsea will need all hands on deck as they bid to seal three crucial points in that game against the league table toppers.

The West Londoners could use some depth, as Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos, and Enzo Fernandez will all be on the pitch at the same time.

Having a midfielder of Lavia’s ilk ready to be called upon will be a massive boost for Rosenior heading into this tie.

The English tactician will be desperate to keep the 22-year-old fit until the end of the campaign.

Still, Chelsea cannot keep gambling on Lavia’s fitness. His quality is unquestioned, but constant setbacks have disrupted any sense of continuity in midfield.

If Rosenior is serious about building around a dynamic midfield trio, depth will be non-negotiable next season.

Caicedo, Santos, and Fernandez cannot shoulder the burden alone across a packed domestic and European schedule.

That is why Chelsea should be in the market for a dynamic midfielder this summer.

With Rosenior keen on deploying that three-person engine room and Lavia frequently sidelined, reinforcing the department is the wise move.

Adding a reliable, durable option would not only protect against injuries but also inject the squad with competition, energy and tactical flexibility.
