A late Cristian Romero header saved Spurs from losing their third Premier League match in a row.

Micky van de Ven put his side ahead 39 minutes in, but his effort was cancelled out by Axel Tuanzebe’s goal just before the break.

Lyle Foster then thought he had won it for Burnley ten minutes from time before Spurs’ other centre half Romero smashed home a header to save a late point for Thomas Frank’s side.

Tottenham were on top for large periods of the first half as Conor Gallagher and Dominic Solanke both missing very good chances to put their side ahead. However, just five minutes before the break, van de Ven would do just that.

The ball dropped perfectly for the Dutchman after a Spurs corner and the central defender made no mistake from 12 yards out as he powered home.

Tottenham looked like they would take that lead into half time, before a briliant cross from former Tottenham man Kyle Walker found Tuanzebe in the area on the 45th minute. His sidefooted a volley eased past Guglielmo Vicario in the Spurs goal.

Solanke once again missed a brilliant chance to put Spurs ahead after the break as he headed a Xavi Simons cross straight at Martin Dubravka from six yards out, but Spurs failed to create any other clear cut chances as the half wore on.

What Spurs couldn’t do, Burnley could, and they went ahead with 15 minutes to go through Lyle Foster. The striker saw his first effort saved by Vicario, but he was not going to make the same error twice as he squeezed his second chance through the keeper and Destiny Udogie.

When Xavi’s effort from eight yards out came back out off of the crossbar, it looked as though Spurs had lost again. However, a wonderful cross from Wilson Odobert rocketed in off the head of Romero to equalise with 90 minutes on the clock.

Still not the perfect result for Frank, but he will be relieved not to have lost after their win against Borussia Dortmund released some of the pressure on him.
