Ronaldinho to headline Stadium of Light legends match after Sunderland season finale | OneFootball

Ronaldinho will headline a star-studded legends match at the Stadium of Light in a major post-season event on Wearside. According to Sunderland Echo, he will front a Ronaldinho & Friends team against UK Icons led by former Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe, with kick-off at 5pm on Monday 25 May.

The exhibition comes one day after Sunderland conclude their Premier League campaign at home to Chelsea, setting up a showpiece end to the season.

Confirmed names alongside Ronaldinho include Djibril Cissé, World Cup winner Kléberson, goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, former Manchester United full-backs Fábio and Rafael, plus Fernando and Anderson.

Tickets are on sale via the club’s official ticketing website, priced from £25 for adults and £20 for concessions. Hospitality options include access to Quinn’s Sports Bar at £100 and executive boxes at £1,500 for 10 guests. Stadium parking will be available for £10.

Widely regarded among the game’s greats, Ronaldinho is a two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or winner with a glittering club career at Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. He earned 97 caps and scored 33 goals for Brazil, representing them at two FIFA World Cups and starring in their 2002 triumph.
