Ex-Sunderland pair Ross Stewart and 43-year-old Craig Gordon have been named in Scotland’s World Cup squad.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Southampton striker has scored 10 in his last 21 outings, helping Saints reach the Championship play-off final. The 29-year-old, capped twice in 2022, has been hampered by injury since.
Up front Steve Clarke has also called up Che Adams, Lyndon Dykes, Lawrence Shankland and George Hirst. Stewart edged out Oli McBurnie, Oliver Burke and Kieron Bowie, while Hirst retains his place.
Rangers winger Findlay Curtis keeps his spot after a March debut against Japan following strong loan form with Kilmarnock. Ben Gannon-Doak is in the 26-man group after three substitute outings for Bournemouth since a serious hamstring injury in November’s win over Denmark.
Angus Gunn, Gordon and Liam Kelly are the goalkeepers, with only seven club games between them all season. Falkirk’s Scott Bain misses out after featuring against the Ivory Coast in March.
Ross McCrorie drops out, leaving Aaron Hickey, Anthony Ralston and Nathan Patterson as right-back options. The defence also includes Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney and centre-backs Grant Hanley, Dom Hyam, John Souttar, Scott McKenna and Jack Hendry.
There is heartbreak for Udinese midfielder Lennon Miller, who misses the cut. John McGinn, Kenny McLean, Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour, Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Christie complete a strong midfield alongside wingers Curtis and Gannon-Doak.
