Manchester United have made their stance on Ruben Amorim’s future clear after the defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

According to the Manchester Evening News (MEN), the Red Devils hierarchy has decided to keep their faith in the beleaguered Portuguese manager despite recent results.

Amorim’s side are 14th in the Premier League table after taking just seven points from their opening six games.

They went into the Brentford game hoping to record back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since Amorim joined the club.

They had previously defeated Chelsea 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.

However, they fell short against Brentford with a performance that hardly got the fans off their seats.

Disgruntled fans are calling for Amorim to be sacked, and the club is already exploring potential alternatives.

Former Barcelona manager Xavi is reportedly being considered as a replacement if Amorim is relieved of his duties. However, the United board have decided to throw their weight behind Amorim.

The support from Old Trafford decision-makers echoes the stance taken last month, when the club was forced to clarify that Amorim would not be sacked after a shock League Cup exit to Grimsby Town.

The narrow win against Chelsea lifted the mood in the dressing room, but United have struggled for consistency throughout Amorim’s tenure.

He has picked up just 34 points from a possible 99 in the Premier League.

The decision to keep faith with Amorim doesn’t necessarily mean he’s out of the woods. He’s running out of time to prove he’s the man for the job.

His predecessor Erik ten Hag survived the October international break but was sent packing by INEOS shortly after. There’s a decent chance they could repeat that trick with Amorim if results don’t improve.

United host newly promoted Sunderland in their next outing, and they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways.
