Manchester United players, especially in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, have often been criticised for not knowing what it means to represent such a historic club.

The Glazers have too often signed mercenaries and players looking for one last paycheck instead of signing stars who fit the club’s ethos.

INEOS have looked to rectify this by bringing in young and hungry players who want to come to Old Trafford, not for the fame and money, but to work hard to take the club back to the top.

Young players have often fallen by the wayside, often due to being unable to handle their newfound fame. And Ruben Amorim has devised a great plan to fix this issue.

Mentality issues have plagued the squad for years

As per The Sun, the head coach wants to help young players with the help of legends like Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and few more. The Portuguese boss feels these club legends can “inspire” his current crop of stars.

“Along with Cantona, Amorim is keen to tap into the brains of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.”

A source told the publication, “Throughout his own career, Ruben always loved when former players and legends of the clubs he played for would interact with the team — sharing knowledge, stories, and advice about what it means to represent the club.

“Coming from Benfica, he understands what real pressure feels like and how to use it to grow — as a man, a player, and now as a leader.

Getting legends on board would help

“He believes these exchanges can help the players make the most of their time at United, both on and off the pitch.”

The United source added: “Ruben loves Cantona. He sees him as the embodiment of the spirit and aura of Manchester United.

“These are people who have United in their DNA, and Ruben wants that energy, that heritage, to be felt and lived by everyone in the squad.”

A lot of these legends have been extremely vocal about these players and Amorim, so getting them onside would be a massive help.
