Rui Costa and José Mourinho were seen together at Benfica Campus in Seixal on Wednesday, 20 May. They were observed in conversation on site.

According to NOW, Rui Costa arrived at around 10:30, with Mourinho passing through the gates five minutes later. It was their first meeting since the Estoril game on Saturday, 16 May.

The broadcaster did not establish what was discussed. It reported that the Benfica president left roughly 30 minutes after arriving.

Mourinho stayed on, taking a seat in the stands at pitch 1. He watched Benfica face Santa Clara in the Taça Revelação semi-final.

Earlier on Wednesday, reports suggested Mourinho had yet to inform Rui Costa of a departure for Real Madrid. That was said to hinge on certainty over Florentino Pérez continuing at the Spanish club.

As a result, the process is expected to drag on in the coming days, adding to the uncertainty.

Any delay in Mourinho confirming an exit from the Luz could complicate the address Rui Costa promised to members and supporters. After the women’s Portuguese Cup final, he said he would deliver a review of the season.
