AC Milan have found themselves in a better position after three straight wins in the Champions League, and Arrigo Sacchi has offered some praise to the squad.
After two opening defeats to Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen things looked bleak for Milan in Europe’s top competition. Two games, zero points and four goals conceded. Partnering this were doubts about Paulo Fonseca’s ability to coach his side, but then things seemed to change.
A 3-1 win against Club Brugge was expected, but still impressive in parts, and concerns eased, but with a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu next, confidence about progression was low. As Tijjani Reijnders struck home the third though, it seemed as though a miracle had occurred.
Following that game was never going to be easy, but a 3-2 win against Slovan was probably not the best way to do so, even if three points were secured. The performance lacked somewhat, but the Rossoneri find themselves in a good place.
With three wins in a row, Sacchi spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about the result and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.
“They achieved a feat by winning at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and they did well to take the three points against Slovan Bratislava. It is a team that needs to work to grow. I hope it succeeds in the feat of taking three more victories.

“The important thing is that the Rossoneri rely on their game, regardless of the opponent: everyone must give their soul, run for themselves and for their teammates. When you behave like that, you will only receive applause.
“Of course, to qualify directly you have to make a string of successes and see what the results of the competitors will be, but we must not forget that there is always the possibility of going forward through the playoffs. Milan has potential that has yet to be fully expressed, they have to find continuity, but there is no lack of quality.
“I would be happy if I could see on the field the maximum commitment from everyone: the result will be a consequence of this attitude.”
