The Foxes have endured a miserable campaign following their relegation from the Premier League last season, with the team sitting in the bottom half of the Championship.

With the threat of a points' deduction hanging over Leicester as well, there are fears they could be dragged into another relegation battle, so it’s crucial that they get this managerial appointment right.

Vitor Pereira under consideration for Leicester City job

Since Cifuentes’ exit, several names have been linked with the job, and the Express & Star has claimed that Pereira is on Leicester’s radar.

The Portuguese boss is currently without a job after he was dismissed by Wolves in November following their terrible start to the season, which has left them on course for an inevitable relegation to the second tier.

However, Pereira did make a positive impact at Molineux last season, having kept Wolves in the top-flight after inheriting the club when they were in the bottom three and on course to go down.

The 57-year-old’s first game was actually a convincing win at the King Power Stadium, and he also led Wolves to a six-game winning run in the Premier League.

Vitor Pereira would be a risky choice for Leicester City

Pereira has quite the CV, having won titles in Portugal, China and Greece, whilst he has also worked in Brazil, Germany and Saudi Arabia before he arrived in the Black Country, which was his first taste of English football.

The number of clubs Pereira has had will be a red flag for some connected to Leicester, whilst the way things ended at Wolves would also be a concern, particularly as he was overseeing recruitment in the summer window, which turned out to be disastrous.

Having said that, Pereira proved at Wolves, and other clubs, that he is capable of making an instant impact, and that’s what Leicester may need right now.

The club is in disarray, and he could be the passionate figure that is required to bring more unity as the Foxes look to climb the table.

Given the way his time at Wolves ended, Pereira may be open to another job in England as he tries to restore his reputation, and the chance to take on the challenge at Leicester may appeal despite the difficulties that come with it.

So, it will be interesting to see what route Leicester go down, and it’s vital they make a swift decision as they look to arrest their concerning run of form.
