AC Milan and Inter’s discussions about San Siro have been ongoing for years, but 2024 could be the year when a change finally occurs – or at least begins to.

Since January, there has been significant movement on the topic of San Siro. Originally, both teams were against the idea of renovating the iconic stadium, but after months of talks, it seemed the clubs were coming around to the idea.

It eventually ended with both Milanese clubs rejecting the idea, and Milan are looking at San Donato as their next home. However, an interview by Paolo Scaroni suggested that the Rossoneri may have another preferred idea.

Regardless of where both clubs go from here, they must decide how to end their time at San Siro, and the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, spoke about the ongoing discussions with the clubs at the Urban Regeneration Forum today, and his words have been relayed by Milan Press.

“We will soon be in a position to close the circle with the teams on the prerequisites for their interest. We do not yet have a date, but the practice of the Municipality of the Revenue Agency is being finalised.

“The first prerequisite is the transfer value since we are no longer talking about a long-term concession. The second concerns the limits of the lease.

“Whether or not we are close to a solution depends on the will of the teams, but we are certainly close to a solution.”
