Mohamed Salah has said Liverpool ‘don’t give up’ after securing a dramatic late win at Burnley.

Liverpool extended their flawless record in the Premier League this season to four consecutive wins at Burnley on Sunday. The Reds required a 95th-minute penalty from Salah to seal the points, after what had appeared set to be a frustrating afternoon at Turf Moor.

The visitors struggled to break down Burnley’s deep defensive lines, until Salah was handed the chance to win it from the spot. Hannibal Mejbri’s stoppage-time handball was penalised and Salah held his nerve to blast past Martin Dubravka from 12 yards.

The win took Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League table, despite Arne Slot’s side failing to convince today.

Incredibly, it’s the first time in Premier League history that a side has won four consecutive games with the decisive goal scored in the final 10 minutes or later.

Salah hailed the character of the champions who kept going to claim an important win on the road.

“Tough opponent today, we tried our best to get the ball between the lines. It was tough but I am glad we managed it,” Salah said to Sky Sports.

“We have a few new players in the starting line up and it takes time to adapt to our game and we try our best to make them confident in our game.

“We don’t give up., we try and push ourselves to the limit and as team we did that.”

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk praised Salah’s composure as the Egyptian kept his cool to decide the game.

“We obviously try to break teams down. We had to be patient and had to be ready, we just kept looking for the goal and the opportunities. A well deserved win but if I am Burnley it is never nice to concede a penalty.

“At the end of the day it was a penalty and Mo scored it perfectly. He is a world class player and we know he can deliver in these moments.

“Key today was not to get frustrated. It could have been a draw as well but we take the three points and move on to Wednesday.”
