INEOS not only need to figure out the futures of several Manchester United first team stars, but also quite a few from the academy.

As per Manchester World, the Red Devils are planning to loan out as many as four academy wonderkids before the transfer window slams shut.

Harry Amass, who was not selected for the club’s pre-season tour, is expected to be the most high-profile name to depart on loan.

He would have expected to receive first team minutes after an impressive debut campaign last time out. But following Diego Leon’s arrival, and Patrick Dorgu’s impressive form, Ruben Amorim thought it best to send him out on loan to earn competitive minutes elsewhere.

PSV Eindhoven’s permanent proposal was rejected swiftly, while Sheffield Wednesday remain in the running. United will take their time before deciding as they want to get the decision spot-on.

“PSV Eindhoven saw a permanent bid rejected for the teenage full-back last week after United made it clear they only wanted to sanction a temporary departure.

“Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have also made an approach to sign Amass on loan, but United will listen to further proposals before they make a final decision on the left-back.”

Gabriele Biancheri, who shone for both the U18s and U21s last season, will also be allowed to leave on a temporary basis with several League One and League Two clubs eyeing his services.

Biancheri, Williams, Ennis all set to depart temporarily

Then there comes Ethan Williams, who was selected to be part of the US pre-season squad after he impressed the head coach.

Ethan Ennis, who spent time out on loan with Doncaster Rovers last season, is also expected to seal a temporary move away from Old Trafford with United feeling both have outgrown academy football.

“United also hope to send fellow attackers Ethan Williams and Ethan Ennis out on loan over the coming week. The duo both want to get a taste of regular first-team football as part of their development, having already gained plenty of experience at academy level.”

The most interesting part of the report was regarding Sam Mather, who endured a disappointing loan spell with League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

Mather to depart?

He signed a new three-year deal last summer, and then sealed a loan in January, only to make two substitute appearances before returning to Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old was on fire for the academy, scoring 10 times in 13 games for the U21s. He had caught former boss Erik ten Hag’s eye, and was even part of the pre-season squad last year.

But clearly, with the addition of Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, there is very little space for Mather to breakthrough. As a result, he might be sold.

“It is also understood Sam Mather is free to leave United before deadline day in either a loan move or a permanent exit.”

It will be interesting to see where all five of them land up. With Stephen Torpey now at the helm of the academy, expectations will be sky-high for the club to keep the talent conveyor belt going.
