A week after an error at Brest, Brice Samba sealed Rennes' 2-1 win over Angers with a late penalty save at Roazhon Park.
Rennes went ahead when Marius Louër diverted a Camara cross into his own net, then Moussa Al-Tamari doubled the lead with a deft lob on 25 minutes. L'Équipe rated Samba, Al-Tamari and Ludovic Blas at seven.
Prosper Peter, introduced on 62 minutes for Lanroy Machine, quickly pulled one back, meeting a Raolisoa centre and nipping in ahead of Aït-Boudlal on 65.
Peter then won a penalty on 79 after slight contact from Frankowski, only for Sbaï to be denied by Samba at 81 as Rennes held firm.
Blas, back in the XI for four straight games, drove Rennes on with and without the ball, sliding Camara in before the opener, and he made way for NAGIDA on 85.
For Angers, Louër endured a rough night, turning into his own net and playing Al-Tamari onside for the second, while the young forward Lanroy Machine struggled against Brassier and offered limited threat.
