Samuel Lino marks one year since his Flamengo debut on Friday, his influence now clear under Leonardo Jardim. According to Coluna Do Fla, the forward has turned the pressure of a big-money move into on-pitch prominence.
Lino’s first outing came on 31 July 2025, a 1-0 loss to Atlético-MG in the Copa do Brasil round of 16 first leg.
Initially, under Filipe Luís, he stayed largely on the left flank. With Jardim he drifts inside and between lines, and has recently deputised as a playmaker when midfielders were missing.
In five months with Jardim, including international friendlies in the mid-season interval, he has seven goals and 12 assists. Across the year he totals 70 appearances, 13 goals and 20 assists, contributing directly to 33 strikes.
In April he said he values Jardim’s licence to be mobile, receiving inside, backing in for the ball, running beyond or pulling wide. He noted the styles differ, saying he felt good under Filipe and now feels comfortable again with Jardim.
Flamengo now focus on the Brasileirão, hosting Vitória on nine August at the Maracanã, kick-off 19:30 Brasília time. After a rest on Thursday, the squad returned on Friday morning at Ninho do Urubu for a 10:00 session, leaving 10 days to prepare.
Flamengo remain second on 39 points, with one game in hand on leaders Palmeiras on 47. Vitória are 13th with 26.
