Santamaria to join PAOK after Valencia contract termination | OneFootball

Baptiste Santamaria’s Valencia stint is close to ending, with the French midfielder to join PAOK Thessaloniki once his deal is terminated. He remains in training at Paterna but will not travel to the Girona pre-season camp.

According to AS, his departure has long been on the cards, as he is not in Carlos Corberán’s plans and knew he had to find a club to play next season.

Santamaria arrived last summer on a free transfer and has had a limited role, featuring in 19 league matches for just over 700 minutes. By January he had been informed the club did not count on him and was encouraged to seek a move.

PAOK made their move and Valencia are working towards an agreement to end his contract. A lack of minutes has meant there were no significant fee-paying offers.

The arrangement suits all parties, freeing a squad place and salary at Mestalla, giving Santamaria greater playing time prospects, and providing PAOK with midfield reinforcement.
